Tuesday ended a contentious election cycle nationwide, and finally, the dust settled on the Sheriff race in Clay County. Not that it was ever much of a race.
In a result that was a surprise to precisely no one, Cook won by a double-digit margin, taking nearly 80% of the vote to 20% for Daniels.
At an election night event for the Clay County Republican Party, Michelle Cook thanked her supporters in attendance for 18 months of hard work to get her re-elected.
In an interview with News4Jax, Cook claimed crime in the county is at a 10-year low, and focusing on maintaining that trend would mark her next four years. Cook also said she would focus on relationships and managing growth in the county.
Darryl Daniels, Cook's opponent and former Sheriff, made a few appearances on the campaign trail on election day but, despite his efforts, did not win a single precinct once all the votes were tallied. Daniels has not yet issued any public remarks on the race's results.
Michelle is a good person & an effective sheriff. We may not agree on politics, but I absolutely did not want Daniels & his behavior back.
Wallop?? Hilarious word to use as almost every picture from CCSO is full of OVERWEIGHT and OUT OF SHAPE guys/women in uniform. Time for a FITNESS PROGRAM.
