Erin Skipper Elected Clay Republican Committeewoman
Skipper Wins Big In Highly Contentious Contest
The dust has settled on a crowded field, and the subsequent Republican State Committeewoman for Clay County has been elected. Erin Skipper secured the position with 11,807 votes, which amount to 61.5%of votes cast.
The race for the little-known position was unusually contentious. One candidate, Tanya Kacsan, touted her campaign as a grassroots initiative against an ‘establishment’ insider in Erin Skipper. Skipper reeled in the majority of the big-name endorsements and focused on her tenure as a School Board Member, which she says equipped her for the role of Committeewoman.
The third candidate, Helana Cormier, took a more traditional approach, highlighting her willingness and readiness to serve the party and her fellow Republicans in Clay County.
Online, supporters of both Skipper and Kacsan mounted vigorous campaigns for their candidates and against their opponents, causing many people to say they would skip the election in protest due to the aggressive antics.
In the end Skipper’s approach resonated with enough voters to secure the win.
Congratulations Erin.
