Please, we as a society need more articles like this to remind us of values we used to live by. Playing fair, being courteous, kind, caring, etc.. We used to consider whole neighborhoods safe places for all us. Today we live on alert expecting not good to happen but just the opposite. Where to start...perhaps with every move we make when no one is watching....make it with integrity.

Agree. He looks like beggar holding that sign. I think he needs to be respectful and just leave.

His first amendment rights don’t go away just because he’s dressed a certain way

Holding a sign saying ‘god bless homeless veterans’ and saying hello to people is akin to ‘starting something’? 🤔

Not needed and he could make a better sign if he was legit. Looks like he picked it up from a recycle bin.

Again, the quality of the sign doesn’t negate his first amendment rights.

With a gun strapped to your chest…yes he’s trying to start something

No need for him to be out there doing this.

Apparently there is, because the people in Penney Farms didn’t understand the law.

That guy is not “celebrating” anything. He’s purposely trying to incite fear and stress in people displaying that pistol and then mocking what free speech is with that tattered sign again purposely trying to give the appearance of being something he’s not. If you want to open carry as you go about your business that’s fine, it’s legal but he’s standing on a busy corner so as many people as possible will see him and increase his odds of an altercation. Why doesn’t he celebrate his right to conceal carry…because no one would notice him.

Sometimes "free speech" is used to provoke other people. That's what this guy is doing. That's why no one likes him.

If you watch the video, in this instance he’s not provoking anyone. Free speech is still free speech even when we don’t like it.

Don't need to watch the video. A sign saying "God Bless the Homeless Vets" could in some eyes, be considered controversial. But if the point of your article is that people don't know the laws regarding where free speech can occur, then that's probably correct. Most people today couldn't pass the US Citizenship test. But I stand by my comment that a lot of what is legally "free speech" in intended to provoke people.

Love the 1st Amendment, not thrilled with the open carry law. In light of so many shootings, I think people are right to call about anyone hanging out with a visible gun by a busy road.
