Slice Slice Baby: Oakleaf's Slice of Heaven
NYC Meatballs and Pizzeria
Pizza is a sensitive subject. People are very adamant about likes and dislikes when it comes to America’s favorite food. How is the crust? What toppings are acceptable? Is the sauce sweet or zesty, and too much or too little?
Well, I haven’t found a pizza here that I didn’t like. But NYC Meatballs and Pizzeria is more than just pizza. They are known for their meatballs, obviously, since it’s in the name. Their pastas are highly recommended. Our daughters said the Mac N Cheese is the best.
They even expressed this to the owner, Rocky, during one of our visits. We have eaten here several times, though not as often as our friends, who dine here weekly. So here are things that we have all enjoyed, and what wasn’t quite a hit.
The wings in Carolina Moonshine flavor are a repeat order for our friend. The Famous NYC Garlic Knots are a MUST! Fried balls of deliciousness are pictured below. Note: these are different from the regular garlic knots that come with a pasta order.
The Poutine was a miss. It was just an “ok” flavor for the group across the board. I don’t know if it was just too much gravy or not enough other notable flavors. Also pictured below is our friend’s made-to-order calzone.

My husband’s new favorite is the Spaghetti. Not just the regular spaghetti, though, the NYC Upgrade! This adds Burrata and Parmesan cheeses, Mike’s Hot Honey, Calabrian Chili, Pesto, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Fresh Basil, and Parsley.
For an extra $5.99 ( I know that sounds crazy), it is very much worth it! You can add this upgrade to any pasta dish. If you have been on the hot honey bandwagon like my husband, you will enjoy this too.
Now for the "Pizza resistance."

Pickle Ranch Pizza, Arugula Burrata Prosciutto, and Spicy Honey Vodka Roni are pictured above. I know pickle pizza is one of those questionable topping pies. If you love pickles, NYC makes the best I have tried around town. The Arugula Burrata Prosciutto pie has those 3 ingredients on a white base, topped with shaved Parmesan and a balsamic glaze. Lastly shown above, is the Spicy Honey Vodka Roni.
Another husband favorite due to the appearance of Mike’s Hot Honey again! This pie is on a vodka sauce base, topped with fresh basil, Pepperoni cups, ricotta, and mozzarella cheeses.
Our friend’s daughter loved the Buffalo Chicken on the Cauliflower crust. Which is a great substitute for those gluten-free pizza lovers. NYC features some other fantastic flavors that you may be used to: Margherita, Meatlovers, White, Chicken Bacon Ranch, Supreme, and Hawaiian.
Some of the unique flavors NYC offers are Lasagna Pie, Chicken Parm Pie, and Greek. There is definitely something here for everyone. I have been too full to even attempt the dessert offerings here.

Nestled in the shopping center next to Akaya, NYC Meatballs and Pizzeria offers a trendy, cozy atmosphere. It is spacious for bigger parties. Quaint enough for a close-to-home date night. Plenty of room at the bar yet, not too noisy like a sports bar. The waitstaff is not only attentive but also attractive. They are always friendly and helpful. Visit them at 1075 Oakleaf Plantation Pkwy, STE 104/105, Orange Park, FL.
