I've just moved back here after 16 years and never received a ticket until last year. Since 2023 I've received three ticket violations through these intersections via camera light. Each time I had been driving too slow and it snapped photo under the red. If you notice all the assisted living facilities and retirement homes at these two locations and on Kingsley so it appears they are targeting the elderly. This is not making things safe but just padding the pocket.

Just goes to show how deep the corruption is. This is nothing more than an Indirect Tax and a violation of our Rights.

These are nothing but money making scam lights. Look at the city of GCS, they loved getting the money, started depending on it, when people woke up to the light scam, the revenue declined and the city council panicked.

I'm all for the redlight cameras, most of the people getting the tickets are people passing through our small town and well, if they would stop at the light they would not get a ticket. Simple as that. I was even a statistic I was rear ended at one of the lights because I stopped but the person behind me did not. it totaled my car. I'm one of those who thinks twice before running a light and maybe others should too. I do not feel sorry for anyone who does not follow the laws and I'd rather have them contribute to our town through a ticket than my taxes be raised. As for the company who supplies them, I guess we can't very well do anything about who they donate to.

Well, it’s no longer a case of opinion since the data collected since the cameras have been up prove you’re totally wrong.

Serving on the public safety committee, the data presented showed that the cameras did NOT reduce accidents.

What am I wrong about??

-My god get real, The number of people getting tickets at the cameras that are people just passing thru town is statistically zero.

-The total # of crashes at those 3 intersections COMBINED has gone up from 35 annually before… to 40 annually after the cameras. Only 3 of those 40 crashes were attributed to someone running a red light. There were zero fatalities before the cameras and zero after the cameras. There is no statistical or rational justification for the cameras other than revenue generation. You do know they can “adjust” the time of the yellow light to increase the number of citations issued.

-Now they are so use to the revenue they can’t fathom a so called “budget cut” by doing away with the cameras like Duval did ….guess it wasn’t about safety after all.

-you caused a crash by stopping unexpectedly & unnecessarily short to the point of totaling your car on a 45mph road and you’re all about red light cameras. How bad did your poor decision hurt the people behind you?

For your information I did not stop short, I was stopped completely and the car behind me crashed into long after I stopped having not applied his brakes at all. The cars that are passing through town mostly are on 17 where the biggest red light runners are IMO. They deserve the tickets they get, people just don't pay attention or just don't care. You must be one of those red light runners who have been ticketed. Maybe you should "get real" as you put it. Have a great day!

Let me guess, you're also "vaccinated", "boosted" and was a mask nanny. These are nothing but money making lights. Go get that booster Melissa!

Actually no I'm very conservative. I'm voting Trump if you must know. I'm not sure what red light cams have to do with that though. You seem like such a nice person.

Did you even read the article? Red Light Cameras do nothing but funnel more money into the Government and thusly, politicians. In fact, to my amazement, you even recount causing an accident by stopping too soon because of a Yellow light. The lengthening of Yellow lights is what every other civilized country does, successfully I might add. The fact that you were literally in an accident caused by the Red Light cameras is what's so strange. People aren't bad people...like if I'm in a heavy truck or RV, I'm going through a Yellow rather than risking wrecking. The yellow should be longer and then let's collect those stats. These red light cameras need to be warranted and right now the stats in the article and your recounting prove that they are not.

So should they take the lights down since some don’t want to stop when red? Yeah, I know that sounds dumb. JUST STOP!

Do people not stop at the vast majority of red light cameras that don't have cameras? Your logic doesn't hold up.

Probably not, but maybe some places are worse than others. So you’re saying get rid of the cameras? If people stop they don’t have to worry about getting a ticket. Seems like a ridiculous article anyway. Just don’t break the law. Now, if they are malfunctioning and most people are getting tickets when the light is green, get rid of them 😊

Even if they do malfunction they are reviewed before any ticket goes out.
