I just want to praise the way this article was written. Had me going for a minute. On the 3rd read I finally got hit on the head with the 2X4 and got it! But, then, I am pretty dense!
I don’t think he was appointed to the St John’s River Water Management District until well after he had left the Florida Senate. While on the Clay County Commission with Rob, I emphasized the importance to Rob of having someone from Clay appointed to that Board.
We have so many problems in this county since the republican takeover. The republicans are in charge of everything and they are destroying what was once a beautiful, rural county with the destruction of nature and the wholesale slaughter of the wildlife. All to increase the population past sustainability levels.
It is a crying shame. We have to stop this overbuilding with unaffordable housing. We need to pass an ordinance outlawing rental only communities and send these carpetbaggers packing. When we are attacked by moneygrubbing developers who laugh at anyone's objections to building houses on toxic land to enrich themselves, the gloves should come off.
I have heard there are some who would like to do away with our charter form of government. These people are not to be trusted. Take them very seriously. I would like to use the charter to end the destruction to nature and wildlife in the county. I would like to outlaw 'rental only' communities and send these carpetbaggers back to whatever rock they crawled from beneath. I would also like to enshrine in the charter that housing can not surpass more than 2 or 3 houses upon an acre. There are things we can do to slow down the current juggernaut. We need people who care about Clay County as a place to live and raise families. Not simply look at it as a cash cow to pillage and move on.
There are developers so evil they laugh at concerns about building houses for unsuspecting people on certifiable toxic land. Even now that the danger has been spotlighted, the developers continue to push for this inanity.
We have in our hands a tool, our charter, to use to combat these forces. Let's use it.
As a former elected official in Clay County for many years, I would like to take exception as your comments on former State Senator Rob Bradley’s contributions to Clay County. When he was first appointed Clay County Commissioner by the Governor to replace an indicted Commissioner, I learned a great deal about the man and his love for Clay County. He was a Commissioner when we first opened Camp Chowenawa Park I took him aside and talked with him about the importance of preserving Clay for future generations. He listened.
As a State Senator, Rob was able to get millions in State funding for a conservation park in Orange Park that now bears his name. As a former Commissioner, he knew the lake issues in Keystone Heights and worked with residents to correct the problem also with State millions.
These as just a couple of examples of Rob’s commitment to Clay County and it’s future.
I would say without a doubt that Rob Bradley was a great representative for Clay and the best Senator to have ever represented Clay County.
Hi George, this article is about Aaron Bean’s accomplishments. The parts about Rob Bradley cover how he curries political loyalty in exchange for campaign support.
Fact is that I never took a position on naming the Park as local property owners were shielded by the purchase and transfer until it was already done. It was me who met with John Nelson who advocated the property be put into conservation. That was an idea John liked, but was afraid of it being sold for multi development after his death. Fortunately, Senator Rob Bradley was able to get the millions for the Nelson family so it would not go to developers.
No neighbors of the park were even invited to the grand opening of the park by Town, County or St John’s Water Management. We were all kept in the “dark”. Not good for Sunshine Government.

I see that
