Clay County implemented 2 term limits on County Commissioners 20 years ago. Since that time, no incumbent commissioner has had an opponent. Prior to that a commissioner was routinely defeated every 4 years. Developers fund their campaigns and Clay County is their playground. I'm opposed to term limits on elected officials because, well, they already have term limits. Their terms are limited to how ever many times we, the voters, elect them to their posts. If we as the electorate are too dumb to toss ones that are not performing to their liking any more, well we get what we deserve and deserve what we get.
