I love this! I believe we should embrace our city and be greatful our PD cares enough to actually keeps us safe from the criminals and unsavory characters. It’s moving our way! I’m from the west side of Jax and fled to raise my children in a better environment! I am blessed better than POS Jax!
You may not like it now because it’s new! But if a hooligan steals or breaks into your house or car you’ll be GREATFUL!
I recall a few years ago when the City of Green Cove Springs City Council first began to discuss becoming a Smart City. This alarmed me and I gave copies of articles from the Wall Street Journal to the new City Manager and the Mayor. The cameras for law enforcement purposes seem benign enough but be aware that the surveillance in the wrong hands can make a Smart City a big nightmare like we read about in Communist China with "social credits" and more recently even in the state of Utah.
One of my dissents toward this surveillance, aside from invading my right to privacy as I travel, is.the secrecy behind it. The public was never made aware of these cameras being installed. I feel like the Commissioners, who should represent us taxpayers, did this without any input from anyone else.
