Josh, please make sure the information you print is correct. As I do have a FB campaign page and you have my education wrong. Please print what is correct!
Hi Dr. Flowers, I do see that the name of the University was listed incorrectly. I have corrected that. As far as the FB page goes, I searched for it before publishing this article and I was not able to find it.
Thank you for your input. It’s not customary for someone to email a candidate to find their campaign website or social media pages. Would that be the expectation for everyone voting on this race? Should they have to email each candidate to find their info? Or, should the candidates ensure their pages are readily and easily available?
Just an FYI I have an interview scheduled to be recorded with Dr Flowers this week which will be published in the near future.
Josh, next time you write about me, I’d appreciate a phone call. Met Jim Hughes after he filed. Have had coffee with three of the four candidates and looking forward to sitting down with the fourth. You might try the same.
Mary, I too have never been contacted by Mr. Allen concerning my campaign. I will assume he is going by what he has read on my webpage, but mostly from the mouths of other people. Had he ever contacted me, he would have seen that there are many similarities to each campaign. The difference is that I have the endorsement of Clay teachers.
Hi Mr. Hughes, you are correct when you say the info in the article referring to you comes from a) your campaign website and b) conversations with people inside the Clay County the Education association and other places. While there are some teachers who are supporting you, all of the other candidates have teachers supporting them as well. Saying that you have the support of teachers is a tactic used by the Teacher’s Union. The Union does it speak for all teachers. Formal emails for podcast interviews will be sent later this week to all candidates who have qualified for this race.
Mr. Allen, you do owe Mary Bolla an apology. She did not recruit me to run. She had nothing to do with my decision to run for school board. I met her for the first time two weeks after I filed to run. I would appreciate it greatly, if you are going to publish anything concerning me and my campaign, that you check with me first, to get the facts correct. I stand by my statement of endorsement by Clay teachers, and include my endorsements from NFCLC and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #177. I may be a retired teacher, who taught in many classrooms for 36 years, but I understand public schools, and know what it takes to teach effectively in the classroom. I understand student needs, varying teaching styles, parent concerns, and the demands education places on students, teachers, and parents. My sister in law may be president of the teacher’s union, fighting every day for students and teachers, making sure no one is left behind or forgotten. I am proud of the hard work she does. I am also proud of my other sister in law, who is a sergeant with the Clay County Sheriff’s Department. I am proud of my entire family. We may not agree on all political ideologies, but we can still love and support each other, and we do. I would encourage you, Mr Allen, as a journalist, not to show personal bias when sharing facts, to treat this race as it is set up by the state of Florida, as nonpartisan. I am not speaking for the other candidates. If they disagree, they can voice their objections.
Mr Hughes, thank you for your response. I have spoken with multiple people that have provided commentary to the contrary regarding your campaign and how it came about. Given the commentary here, I will discuss with our team and determine if an amendment is needed or if this warrants an entirely new article.
As far as bias is concerned, every person has a lens through which they view the world and the events in it, I have never claimed to not have one myself. I have a long, storied history of exposing the truths the CCEA doesn't want people to know. I do not intend to stop doing that.
Lastly, these races are never non-partisan. It's silly to pretend otherwise given the climate around public education here in Clay, in Florida and nationwide.
Please email me the names of who you talked with to get the information on my campaign. Also, please forward to me links to what you exposed about the CCEA so I can be informed. Thank you.
I have added the following language to the article: "*Update: After this article was published, Board Member Mary Bolla and candidate James Hughes have publicly denied Bolla had any involvement in his campaign or decision to run for office*"
I’m giving Darryl another chance. I like his Strength. I want Criminals Scared to come commit crimes or bring Drugs into our County. I am a 53 year resident of Clay County Florida. God Fearing. Family Lovin. Friend Supporting. Political Worried Lady
Do you have any specific issue or comment on Cook? My few dealings with her specifically have been very positive with good results. Even though I’ve been in Fleming for almost 40 yrs I don’t really know much about Daniels other than his demise in 2020.
I’m a no nonsense conservative so definitely want a no nonsense conservative sheriff or as close as I can get.
Josh Thanks for exposing the Mary Bolla, Jim Hughes and Vickie Kidwell alliance. Anyone concerned about the children of Clay County should take note. Our focus should always be on the children PERIOD. The focus of the Union is NOT THE CHILDREN..

I mean why didn’t you email her before publishing? Seems like your research for this entire article was lacking.

Respectfully, I will not send you any names. I am not going to burn sources because you're upset over an article. Have a good day, Mr. Hughes.

Was superintendent Broskie left off you list intentionally ?
Hi- not sure what you mean. He is on the list of candidates that were elected by default.
