You know Fiction keeps becoming Nonfiction in America...and maybe elsewhere too. While I read Orwell's 1984 back in the 80's, I also just rewatched Minority Report and Enemy of the State to brush up on my current events. I need to research some more old books and movies that were originally Fiction and are quickly becoming Nonfiction. When I was young, I thought by now we'd have moon colonies and flying cars, nope just the scary 💩 they put in movies back then, we aren't getting the cool stuff. This sucks on many levels. Maybe after Amendment 3 passes, CCSO can use this Flock money to pay their deputies.
Well written and insightful article, as usual except I’m still wanting to know one thing specifically. Everything described sounds good for law enforcement efficiency and expediency. Speculate/describe a scenario where I should be concerned as a regular law abiding citizen because I’m not at this point. I’m not interested in hearing about some relationship mistrust by some law enforcement officers who tracked their spouse and was then arrested and fired. Policy, oversight and system guardrails can handle that going forward. What I am concerned about is all of Clay County turning into what goes on in Clay Hill, Argyle, Youngerman and Wells Road. If these camera systems can eliminate that then I’m for it.
Maybe we should try curfews and gun confiscations too. I wonder if less people had guns and didn't have the right to assembly, I bet we could further reduce crime. These pesky Bill of Rights are really getting in the way of us having a utopian society.
