I would like to know how/why this assessment applies to people on a dirt road who have NO STORM WATER drainage at all?? Our road is barely maintained at all. There is no drainage from my property to the road. As a matter of fact, any drainage is from the road to my property as we are down hill from the road.
I have posed this question to the commissioners.As a whole and my designated commissioner for my district with no response or acknowledgement to my questions.
This is just the latest scam this board of commissioners (who think they're entitled to more than $100K in salary BTW) are trying to implement. This is the same group that wasted 1 million in taxpayer dollars to replace digital signs at local schools with new digital signs supposedly in the name of "security". These people are banking on their constituents being in the dark. Thankfully Clay News is shining a light on their activities.
Our private property has being used for years without our consent, by the county, to dump storm water drainage thru it, even though drain easement was GIVEN along the roadway. An Environmental engineer confirmed the low section of our property was a localized divot and not a natural drain for the area ... we are FAR from the only ones who have been abused in this way. Now they want us to PAY THEM on land we are taxed on and can no longer reliably use ???
This last minute move to slide this in is highly disrespectful to all impacted citizens. And it looks "odd" .... like the salesmen who is rushing to get a customer's signature before the product sells out. Think the internet has word for it.

Sounds like tax the poor and pay the company for work it says Clay County needs done. Why bill everybody for work in just some areas?
