The problem is the cherry-picking of "sadness", "mourning", "outrage". What do all the murdered school children get? Any stadium-sized "celebrations" for them? What about that Democratic couple murdered in their home (along with their dog)? Don't they warrant as much attention? The problems go WAY deeper than this teacher -- who doesn't even use her real name on her posts, so who's going to the trouble to "out" her? I worry about my posts, too, but I'm only here once, and this nation I was born into and whose family fought in wars for is being dismantled from the inside out and too many Americans don't see it. The corrosion MAGA is causing may be irreparable and history will deal very badly with this Trump/MAGA era.

Hi Cary, it's possible to be sad about more than one thing. The teacher's posts show a lack of discretion, which is a quality teacher's should have.

If she was just posting political opinions that didn't advocate for murder, I don't think she would have faced any real consequences.

This teacher clearly doesn't know when and where it's appropriate to voice string political opinions. I can understand how parents might be concerned how this teacher would treat a student if she knew they or their parents were Republicans. And that's her fault and ultimately that plus advocating for murder have brought consequences down on her.

Not only did she lack the discretion to realize advocating for murder is bad, she didn't even have enough discretion to not post that opinion online.

She was posting under a pseudonym. Someone who outed her helped stir up outrage against her.

How many did you hold for those children? That’s the issue. Don’t throw in people’s faces hypocrisy when you also meet that standard. A father was assassinated in front of thousands including his wife and children. A lot of local people were friends with him. They mourned the children, the were shocked with the president, they were sad with Rep Hortman - this took the cake for many because of who he was and its shock value. I’ll be waiting on you to organize that vigil for the Catholic children shot while praying.

That’s what you just asked for. You asked why. So get a grip.

His wife and children were not even in the state of Utah when the murder occurred. The instant glorification of a man who was propelled into “greatness” by millionaires money to spread disagreeable (I’m being nice with this term) ideology does not merit this Horst Wessel outpouring of national mourning. It’s all performative to make him a martyr. If the young man in custody actually was the shooter, the bizarre claims that the gun-loving, conservative Mormon guy just don’t scream ‘leftist.’

The problem is a 22 yr old young man shot and killed another young married family man because he didn’t like him.

Our Republican Party HAS BEEN Complacent. We have allowed all this madness to carry on. We stood up and DID NOTHING. This has been going on long before TRUMP stood up and said, ENOUGH.

Now let’s all get our heads out of our own bums and get in the same game and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN…. MAGA. What is bad about that?

Teachers need to be teaching our children just how great our free country is, and all the amazing things our nation has to offer….

Because imagine if the/ our teachers did the job they were hired to do….teach our children… how to move forward…and provide for life….with the education the teacher provided them with…..

Too Bad our schools aren’t The Bolles or St John’s County Day School…wait wouldn’t that create equity? I mean equality….HMMMMM…. Our public schools suck….

My grandchildren go to a great public school with dedicated teachers who do a great job. But, let the assault on public education continue.

Keep telling yourself that. Have you volunteered at one lately? Try having a child that had to be tutored from pre-k through college. Go volunteer downtown at the nicu one step down and see how well our children are being educated. Why do you think our country is in shambles? We are not educating our children and grandchildren. My daughter in law was a teacher in Charlotte and could tell you stories that would make your blood boil. Again keep telling yourself that. I do thank you for the reply though..Oh and I’m a product from our sorry clay county school system. I was left behind. I am a dropout.
