My post wasn't really about you anyway, it's about this candidate and the fact that there's a better one. I disagree on the premise of saying he's challenged books that's gone too far. The whole point was that no one person nor entity should have the power to retain or place books in front of our children. There needs to be an effective curriculum committee and if there is one, then great it better be working by now. I stand by his right to challenge any book he wants to have a closer scrutiny over. Better safe than sorry, right? These are our children after all. There should be many checks and balances before ANYTHING Woke about gender identity, sexual stuff...all that has no place being exposed in schools first. School's curriculum should be agnostic to politics unless that's the subject matter. Even then it should be agnostic, teaching facts not opinions. Period. The fact that Randi Weingarten is unhinged for Woke politics, is greatly concerning so I would contest that you should want more of the gentleman that questions books. We should question and challenge them all if that's what it takes to keep porn out of our kid's view while in schools. Whether you think a book is in no way inappropriate or not is irrelevant, right? Same with me. If you think a book is inappropriate, it should be reviewed/read by at least 1 committee member and provide a synopsis or any questionable material for broader review. The fact that you think it's inappropriate and I don't...my opinion is not necessary. Does that make sense? Doesn't matter what you think...if ANY Parent thinks a book is questionable, it is the duty of the offering school to insure that book is appropriate. If that cannot be done then the book should be removed. The onus is on the School Board to put checks in place that are Politically Agnostic and make Parents trust in the school system again. It's going to take drastic measures to set things right. The damage has been done so deeply in the culture of our schools thanks to Partisan hacks like Randi Weingarten that we have to err on the side of caution. So really it's not your place to say what is 'Too Far'. That decision should be a consensus between the appropriate, qualified personnel.
