Yeah me neither. The Podcaster wouldn't name the PARENT who raised issues with inappropriate sexually explicit books in our children's libraries is just appalling. Jim Hughes stuttered at saying the children are the parent's children, he implied that the school and education system should own them. No thanks. Keep your indoctrination away from our kids, Mr. Hughes! Alvero is the better candidate.

Robert Alvero is the better candidate. Go check him out! I am impressed. Jim Hughes is a Liberal Democrat, clearly. Also this Podcaster is a biased partisan skewed to the Left. No thanks. This is Florida, where Woke goes to die.

Yes, I, a lifelong Republican, am a leftist. This is a silly comment.

Don't take it personal, there's a lot of RINO's out there. I mean, you literally wouldn't say the gentleman's name who exposed the sexually explicit books in our Children's schools? What is that? He should be heralded as a Hero for being brave enough to speak up when every media outlet was trying to censor him. Regardless of what you think, the fact is the school system everywhere is indoctrinating children in nefarious ways. I listened to the whole Podcast, I get that you made this point too but both this candidate and yourself made it sound like you are anti-Florida for standing up to the Woke Mind Virus. Parents need to Parent and Schools need to stay in their lane. That's all I'm saying. You're either with that or you're not. I studied the down ballot very carefully and I've determined that Jim Hughes is not the choice for Clay County. My vote is going to Alvero. I heard your Podcast with him too, I know your podcast isn't selecting candidates. Just stating for anyone else reading to be sure to do your homework.

You’ll not find a single post, article or podcast episode where I ever advocate for schools to usurp parents rightful role and responsibilities. I have staunchly in the camp that parents should have the final say in their child’s education and the government schools should not had ANY info from parents.

But this one individual in our county who is challenging books has gone too far. Yes, he has exposed books that needed to be removed. But he has also challenged books that were in no way inappropriate simply because he doesn’t like them or they differ from his perspective on history.

All that being said, I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to listen to the podcast episodes. Thank you!

My post wasn't really about you anyway, it's about this candidate and the fact that there's a better one. I disagree on the premise of saying he's challenged books that's gone too far. The whole point was that no one person nor entity should have the power to retain or place books in front of our children. There needs to be an effective curriculum committee and if there is one, then great it better be working by now. I stand by his right to challenge any book he wants to have a closer scrutiny over. Better safe than sorry, right? These are our children after all. There should be many checks and balances before ANYTHING Woke about gender identity, sexual stuff...all that has no place being exposed in schools first. School's curriculum should be agnostic to politics unless that's the subject matter. Even then it should be agnostic, teaching facts not opinions. Period. The fact that Randi Weingarten is unhinged for Woke politics, is greatly concerning so I would contest that you should want more of the gentleman that questions books. We should question and challenge them all if that's what it takes to keep porn out of our kid's view while in schools. Whether you think a book is in no way inappropriate or not is irrelevant, right? Same with me. If you think a book is inappropriate, it should be reviewed/read by at least 1 committee member and provide a synopsis or any questionable material for broader review. The fact that you think it's inappropriate and I don't...my opinion is not necessary. Does that make sense? Doesn't matter what you think...if ANY Parent thinks a book is questionable, it is the duty of the offering school to insure that book is appropriate. If that cannot be done then the book should be removed. The onus is on the School Board to put checks in place that are Politically Agnostic and make Parents trust in the school system again. It's going to take drastic measures to set things right. The damage has been done so deeply in the culture of our schools thanks to Partisan hacks like Randi Weingarten that we have to err on the side of caution. So really it's not your place to say what is 'Too Far'. That decision should be a consensus between the appropriate, qualified personnel.
